Scholarships
The Pearls of Excellence Foundation is excited to partner with Mu Epsilon Omega to raise money for scholarships for our college bound youth and those currently matriculating through higher education systems.
Scholarship recipients are selected on a competitive basis.



Overview
The Pearls of Excellence Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity in partnership with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®, Mu Epsilon Omega Chapter of Orange County, California is proud to award scholarships to deserving young women in their senior year of high school.
This scholarship recognizes college-bound high school and current UC Irvine students who demonstrate outstanding leadership and a commitment to making a positive impact in their communities. It honors individuals who inspire others through service, initiative, and dedication to creating meaningful change both in and outside the classroom. The award supports students who exemplify character, integrity, and the potential to become future leaders in their chosen fields.
Applicant Criteria:
1. Be a female Black/African American high school senior, either residing in or attending school or college in Orange County
2. Acceptance to an accredited 4-year college or university for the upcoming fall semester
3. Not be related to any member in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® the Mu Epsilon Omega Chapter. (Relatives include but are not limited to, daughters, stepdaughters, granddaughters, sisters, nieces and cousins.)
4.Minimum of 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
5. Demonstrated exceptional leadership through community service and/or involvement in extracurricular activities.
The Gazelle Waller Holmes Scholarship
The Gazella Waller Holmes Scholarship was established to recognize
her legacy of generously giving to family and friends, her love of church
and to celebrate her 93 years of life (1930 – 2024). The sale of her
beautiful collection of hats provided the proceeds for this scholarship.
Applicant Criteria:
1. African American female graduating high school senior
2. First generation college student
3. Minimum GPA 2.5
4. Applied and accepted to an accredited two or four-year college or
university.
